The BBFC and Short Film Regulation

The BBFC is an organisation that nationally regulates films in the UK. They are responsible for censorship and classification.
The British government owns the BBFC and is an authoritative figure in regards to the ownership of the BBFC.
All DVDs must have the age regulation on them and must be visible to the audience.

The Hunger Games was dropped from 15 to a 12A because it has such a wide fan base. Many people thought that it was slightly too violent and contained too much gore, for instance, during the bloodbath by the Cornucopia, where many tributes slaughtered each other. The action the producers took by  cutting some scenes appealed to a wider audience and the film was classified a 12A in the UK.
